I've heard hydrogen peroxide does work well on stains but will also bleach the area around the stain. Maybe only good for blood stains on white clothes?
Really, I hadn't heard that about bleaching the area around the stains on colored garments. I tried it a long time ago (on white I think), and it worked fine. I will have to be extra careful! :)
