Abide With Me

May these last three verses of the hymn, Abide With Me,
comfort you and give you hope that our dear Shepherd,
Jesus, is lovingly holding you in His arms and will
NEVER leave you or forsake you. He gives an
EVERLASTING peace that NO other person or thing of
this world can give.

6. I need Thy presence every passing hour;
What but Thy grace can foil the Tempter's power?
Who like Thyself my guide and stay can be?
Through cloud and sunshine, oh, abide with me!

7. I fear no foe, with Thee at hand to bless;
Ills have no weight and tears no bitterness.
Where is death's sting? where, grave, thy victory?
I triumph still if Thou abide with me.

8. Hold Thou Thy cross before my closing eyes,
Shine through the gloom, and point me to the skies.
Heaven's morning breaks, and earth's vain shadows flee;
In life, in death, O Lord, abide with me!

This is one of my favorite hymns of recent years. We sing it often at my church.

It is one of my favorite hymns too and is so comforting. The last few verses usually bring tears to my eyes because it reminds me of my dad who died almost 24 years ago. This was one of his favorite hymns as well. I am thankful that he is at peace and in heaven.:)

A favorite hymn...I remember two years ago walking through an old cemetery to a lonely plot. Fog hung in the craggy trees. The only sound was the bells of a nearby church - this was one of the hymns they played. It was my grandfather's funeral. The church bells, and this hymn particularly, gave me some comfort.
