Bargain Hunting

If you're like me, you are elated when you find a BARGAIN!! Last week I had received some money as a gift from a couple of people. After praying and thinking about how to use my money wisely, I decided to go to the different thrift shops in town! For $30 I was able to buy 1 skirt,1 pair of jeans, 4 pairs of pants, 3 short-sleeved tops, 10 sweaters/long sleeve tops, 1 purse, and 5 pairs of shoes!!!!!! I WAS ESTATIC to say the least!!! To top it all off, these clothes were in excellent condition! After purchasing these items, I just make sure that I wash the clothes really well or wipe the insides of the shoes with clorox. I have never had any problems as a result.

God was very gracious to me and always has been in this area (besides many other ways) because I either get nice clothes given to me from my family, or I am able to find really good bargains at these thrift shops! I only buy clothes from a regular store such as Walmart or from one of the shops in the mall when they are on sale or at a really reasonable price. I told my most excellent husband that I probably buy store bought clothes only 10 - 15% of the time! I just can't see paying a lot of money for my clothes or shoes and am so very thankful for these opportunities to get these bargains! It is much easier on the budget for sure!!

Congratulations! You know I sew, so I make most of my clothes. I have so many "figure issues" that it is really a blessing. And fabric can be found pretty inexpensively too. Always helps to save where we can!

I think it is wonderful that you sew! I wish I could have more time for it, but I just don't at this time! Hopefully I can get back into it someday!! I hope you display more of your doll clothes on your blog!!

My daughter and I are big thrift store shoppers! That way, we don't feel guilty when we occasionally splurge on that perfect item we can't find elsewhere for less. It all balances out!

Searching for thrift shop clothes is one of my favorite shopping adventures -- and it's so much fun if you have likeminded girlfriends.
Since others don't appreciate this activity as much as I do, I am trying to stop admitting where I buy my clothes.

Not good --
Friend: " Gee - I love your whatever."
Me: "Thanks! I got it at Goodwill for $1.25!"

Better --
Friend: "Gee, I love your whatever."
Me: "Thank you."

Favorite Apron,

That's funny! My mom is always telling me that! I seem to have some guilt complex if I am wearing something not from Target. One day, quite recently, I was telling someone about the designer shoes I bought (basically unused) for $5.00. The look on her face was one of supressed revolt and I could hear my mom saying, "You don't have to tell people where you got it and how much you paid...just say thank you and smile."

Polly and TK, my family and friends are favorable towards my "thrift shop buying" and are sometimes inquisitive about the different places I go. About the only negative response I get is from my mom about making sure I get the shoes really cleaned out (since I obviously can't wash them) so I won't get any athlete's foot or fungus! :) Have fun with your shopping and thanks for the comments!
